Blackjack card counting and system variations

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

Blackjack is one of the most popular games of the casino. But the problem is that it is very difficult for people to win this game. When they lose, they have to give up a lot of money which they had bet. Therefore, people are looking for techniques and strategies which will assist them in playing this game. One of the renowned strategies used by people is blackjack card counting. Majority of the masters of blackjack use this technique to win a game. However many casinos have banned this activity because of the loss they face.

Blackjack counting cards refers to any technique which can be implemented to keep track of the cards which are being played in a simple game of blackjack. If one can count cards successfully then it can lead to a win and turn out to be very profitable for the player. The basic concept of counting of cards is that the players gives each card a specific value and then it can be tracked to judge if the cards are in their favor or not. This helps them in betting at the right time and making money.

Research and computer simulations have ascertained that a low running count works in favor of the dealer. This means that low card like 4s and 5s are beneficial for the dealer while a high running count i.e. majority of high cards like tens and aces are advantageous for the player. There are numerous reasons why a high running count can be favorable for the player. This is because the chances of blackjacks are higher and the dealer will have to bust more stiff hands like 14s, 15s and 16s. In addition the insurance option can be used which is again favorable.

There are a lot of variations of blackjack card counting systems. There is first the Hi/Lo method. A value is assigned by the player to every card which increases or decreases the count by 1. This is because the high cards are given a value of minus one while low cards have the value of plus one. The neutral cards i.e. from 7 to 9 are given a value of 0. The player can assess the value of the remaining cards by adding and deducting the value of those which have already been played.

Another variation of blackjack card counting system is the multi level system. This is the same as Hi/Lo. Only the values assigned are greater like plus two and minus two. People can use either of these blackjack card counting variation to score a win.

Looking into the world of Card Counting

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

One of the card game strategies used to ascertain the probability advantage of a certain player is referred to as card counting. This term is mostly used to refer to the act of gaining an advantage over the house in casino games specifically in blackjack where it is used to track the ratio of high cards to low card and in other games as well. In games like spades or contract bridges, it is used to refer to the counting of the remaining high cards or getting a count of the distribution.

Card counting circles around the basic principle that low cards like 4s, 5s and 6s which have the value of plus one are better for the dealer and on the other hand the high cards like Ten, Queen, Jack, King and ace have a value of minus one and are beneficial for the player. By having a high value of tens, the player has a higher chance of winning instead of the dealer. This is because the dealer can only hit stiff hands while the player can stand or hit, whatever his preference.
The myths around card counting state that people need unusual and special mental abilities to count cards which are not true.

Instead a point score is assigned to every card in order to give it a value. Then they only keep track of the total of these values. This method of counting is known as running count which indicates that the counters do not memorize cards. In a basic system of counting of cards, every card is given a value of positive, negative or zero. Once a card of a specific value is dealt then the count is adjusted by the counting value of that card. The count is increased by low cards as it means that the percentage of high cards is more in the shoe while the high cards do the opposite.

The basic purpose of a card accounting system is to give value to cards in order to know the effect of removal of each card. The effect of removal helps in assessing the effect of one card and the advantage it can provide in the game. An ideal and reliable system can e defined as one which offers the highest average return. Therefore the betting correlation and playing efficiency are kept in mind when a card counting system is being designed.

How to count cards- A simple and effective process

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

According to the statistics, one is bound to lose all the games played in the casino if they do not know how to count cards. Counting cards is a strategy implemented to know the probability advantage held by a player and also to know when to make a bet and how to improve your playing efficiency. It is vital to know these steps in order to become a successful player and also to win games instead of losing them. Counting of cards can be of use in nearly all casino games but they are highly popular in black jack.

One can become a master in blackjack and flip the game to their advantage if they use some speedy math skills and learn how to count cards. Its a very useful tactic as it helps in keeping track of the ratio of both high and low cards. It is necessary to keep track of the high and low cards because they will indicate the position of the game and the time to bet. This is because the high cards like tens and aces are favorable for the player. In comparison the low cards like 4s, 5s and 6s are better for the dealer.

People who know how to count cards will know when its time for them to make their move. It happens when the dealers shoe, which is a device for holding numerous decks of cards, is loaded with high cards. This is advantageous for the player as it helps them in scoring a black jack while it is not favorable for the house as they need low cards. Once the probability of high cards is assessed, people can make use of the classic High and low method and start with a zero at the shuffle. The value assigned to high cards is minus one so when a high card like ace or tens hit the table, a point should be subtracted.

Similarly, the low cards have the value of plus one so a point should be added. In addition, people who know how to count cards can simply allow the cards to cancel out each other to save time. Next, people should divide their count by the number of desks still present in the shoe before each hand. They can simply estimate the number of decks in the stack of discarded cards and deduct it from the total. When the outcome of the count is a plus two, people should bet.

This will eventually lead them to win the game but it is only possible if people know how to count cards and to use that strategy.
